How Shifting Values Across the Lifespan Can Shape Career and Life Decisions | Lynn Berger '84TC, '90TC

Understanding our priorities at any time is not an easy task. In fact, it's tough.

When it is time to re-prioritize and re-evaluate your career, the first step should include getting to know yourself again and asking if your work matches your professional and life goals. Is there a fit between your:

  • Motivation and skills?
  • Personality style and temperament?
  • Personal needs and values?

Values are key and can change throughout your life, affecting your career and life decisions. Ideally, we want the time and effort we spend on work and other activities to be aligned with our values, and for our values to guide our decisions.

To do this, recognize your changing priorities.
